Fight of the Millenium: Mayweather vs Pacquiao, Who Will Emerge Victorious?

Bago pa man nakumpirma na tuloy na ang Fight of the Millenium; Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

BOXING LEGENDS PREDICTION

Mike "Iron/Baddest Man on the Planet" Tyson (former undisputed WBC, WBA, IBF World Heavyweight Champion)
I thought from the start that Pacquiao is going to win. This guy is perpetual motion. He comes from every angle. He’s all energy. Always throwing punches. Never stops.
Floyd tucks in and picks his shots and he is more accurate. But he doesn’t throw anything like Manny’s hundred punches a round.
It’s unlikely he can knock Manny out so if he wants to win he’s got to change. Unless he throws more punches he can’t win the rounds.

Lennox "The Lion" Lewis (Former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion / 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist)

"I think Floyd has so much talent and quickness, that natural ability to win,"
"It really depends on his heart. Pacquiao has a lot of heart. It's difficult but I think Mayweather has all the advantages, that natural ability and rhythm. Pacquiao, you never really know how he's going to come out."

Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield (former Cruiserweight and Heavyweight undisputed Champion)
“It’s a toss up because their styles are just that different,”
“Pacquiao, the only way he can win is he corners him off. If he corners him off, I think he will win. I don’t think he can, but that’s what makes the fight so interesting.

Roberto "Hand of Stone" Duran (Former Lightweight, Welterweigt, Light Middeleweidght and Middleweight Champion)

"I think Pacquiao will win,"
"I've studied Pacquiao's fights as I have also Mayweather's. Mayweather has had trouble defeating some fighters, and those fighters, who then fought the Filipino afterwards, the Filipino knocked them out quick and beat them quick

"Sugar" Ray Leonard (Former 5-Division World Champiom / 1976 Olympic Gold Medalist)
“Part of me thinks Mayweather, he has never lost, he has never tasted defeat and has not had that feeling of having to come back,”
“Pacquiao has tasted that [defeat] but he is so different. He is blessed with hand speed, foot speed and power so maybe that doesn’t apply to him.”

Antonio "Magic Man" Tarver (WBC, WBA, IBF, The Ring Light-Heavyweight World Champion & 1996 Olympic Bronze Medalist)
I don’t think Pacquiao can match Floyd’s speed but I think he’s fast enough. I couldn’t match Roy Jones’ speed but I was fast enough to offset his speed. That being said, I think Pacquiao is gonna have some moments and you know he has a very powerful punch. I think Floyd wins a decision but if this fight doesn’t go the distance, you have to lean toward Pacquiao landing that shot within the distance.

Bernard Hopkins ( Former World Middleweight Champion/ Oldest Ever World Boxing Champion)
"First six rounds, possibly less, it's gonna be a tornado,"
"Because of Pacquiao's style, he will try to overwhelm Mayweather. If [Mayweather] gets through [that first rush], he will defeat him."
"I see Floyd making the adjustments,"
"I say Floyd wins by controversial decision."
Source: Jason Keidel @ cbssports.com

Vladimir Klitschko (WBA, IBF, WBO, The Ring World Heavyweight Champion)
"I also think that Pac Man has 49% of chances to win that fight and Floyd is just bigger and having good sense for technique to dominate that fight with 51% of chances to win."

Julio Cesar "El Gran Campeon Mexicano" Chavez (Greatest Mexican fighter of all-time, Former 3- Division World Champion)
"My heart says Pacquiao,”
"but if I had to bet, I would bet on Floyd Mayweather. Pacquiao is so hungry, so eager to beat Mayweather. I see this as a tough fight for Floyd…if Manny comes out with the aggression, with the killer instinct that we're all used to seeing him with, then he has a shot.

Roy "Superman" Jones Jr. (Former 4-Division World Champion, BWAA 1990-2000 Boxer of the Decade, Former P4P King and 1988 Olympic Silver Medalist)
“The fact that he can't do things at 38 that he did at 28 makes him more dangerous,”
“He's always been a great puncher, but he's never had to use it because he was so much better than everyone skillfully, and he had so much athleticism that he hasn't had to depend on his punching power.”
"Pacquiao may think he'll be able to outwork him and not worry about (Mayweather's) power because he hasn't had to use it. Now that he's gotten older he will use his power, and that's going to be a bigger problem for Pacquiao. Because, to me, the only way for him to beat Pacquiao is to get him out of there.”

Sergio (Maravilla) Martinez (Former WBC Light-middleweight Champion / former Lineal The Ring, WBO, WBC Middleweight Champion)
"This was never too much of a fight to me because Mayweather is in a league of his own," "Floyd Mayweather can have Manny for breakfast, lunch or anything. Pacquiao is still a long way from being ready for Mayweather."

MAYWEATHER-PACQUIAO COMMON ADVERSARIES PICKS

Juan Manuel "El Dinamita" Marquez (Former 4-Division Champion, 2012 The Ring Fighter of the Year, Future Hall of Famer)
"For me, Mayweather would win,"
"He is not a puncher, but he is an artist in the ring. He is the best in terms of defense and he's very quick with counter-punches and that's what hurts Pacquiao.

Miguel Cotto (WBC Middleweight Champion)
"I think his explosiveness and his quickness is going to be big issues for Floyd on May 2nd. Floyd is a smart boxer. I think he is going to put Pacquiao at his distance and [try to] contain Pacquiao. I think being with Freddie Roach for my last two fights, I think Freddie is going to have Manny ready for Floyd. I think Manny has a big chance [to win],
source: Edward Chaykovsky @ Boxingscene.com

Ricky "Hitman" Hatton (former Super WBA, IBF, IBO and The Ring Light Welterweight Champion)
“Manny is a great fighter but when you look at the trouble he had with the counter-punching style of Juan Manuel Marquez, he could be in serious trouble with Floyd Mayweather. With that said, Manny will take a lot of heart from how Marcos Maidana was able to test Floyd and compete with him. For that reason, I give Manny a great shot in the fight because Mayweather has slowed down a touch. Floyd always finds a way to win, no matter the style, and that’s the reason that I make him a slight favorite over Manny,”
li Shaposhnikov @ mp8.ph

Oscar "Golden Boy" Dela Hoya (Former 6-Division Champion and GBP President)
“It's one of those fights where anybody could win. Who would I give the edge to if it was today, I would have to go with Floyd,” he said, pointing out that it is Pacquiao who has shown more signs of declining skills.
“Three years ago, hands down it would have been Pacquiao. But now I would go with Floyd. If he fights Pacquiao, then Floyd will erase all doubts that anybody might have,”

"Sugar" Shane Mosley (3-Division World Champion, 2000-2001 #1 P4P in the World, BWAA 1998 Fighter of the Year)
“I think Mayweather’s going to out-point Pacquiao by moving, evading punches, and being able to do combinations and stuff like that.”

PACQUIAO PAST OPPONENT PREDICTION

Brandon Rios (Former WBA Lightweight Champion)
"But I think Floyd beats Manny Pacquiao,"
"Floyd is just a very defensive fighter. He's got so many skills, he's been in so many positions, and he does have that skill."
"I do believe that Floyd beats him."
"I think a decision. I don't see nothing else,"
"I think it would be a decision, because Floyd is too smart to do anything else. He's not gonna take a risk and try to get hurt himself,"
Source: ABS-CBNnews.com

Erik "El Terrible" Morales ( Mexico's First Ever 4-Division World Champion)
“Pacquiao has an opportunity to beat Floyd,”
“He has fast legs, and he’s a southpaw,”
“It won’t be easy for Mayweather. I don’t think he wants the fight face-to-face.”
Source: Michael Duarte @ http://www.latintimes.com/

MAYWEATHER PAST OPPONENT PREDICTION

Robert Guerrero (Former interim WBC welterweight and IBF Super Featherweight Champion)“Everybody wants to see it…I have to say Floyd…I give him the edge…his foot speed and hand speed, and how elusive he is in the ring, it’s difficult for a lot of fighters to get in on him…I don’t think anybody is beating him,” stated former Mayweather Jr. foe Robert Guerrero. Expecting to do great against Mayweather Jr. back in May of 2013, Guerrero ended up being taken to school, with Floyd making it nothing more than a laid back sparring session for himself. This is what happens too often when facing a ring virtuoso in Mayweather Jr., and according to Guerrero, it won’t be any different for the Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao come May 2. Guerrero also touches on a very important topic, and that is the fact that while Mayweather Jr. is exceedingly hard to land on, Manny Pacquiao tends to welcome a brawl, thus ends up being right in front of his opponents often enough.

BOXING TRAINORS PREDICTION

Nacho Beristein (Juan Manuel Marquez Trainor)
“Because I believe Pacquiao will beat Mayweather. You’re gonna take away the glory that has made Mayweather these past years.”
“Mayweather’s style – when he fights someone that pressures him and throws a lot of punches – he (Pacquiao) just beats [Floyd] up.”
Source: ABS-CBNnews.com

Joel Diaz (Timothy Bradley Trainor)
“Even though I have it as a 50/50, I would lean towards Mayweather because of Mayweather’s defence. He’s very accurate with his right hand, and Manny Pacquiao is very strong and fast but at the same time he’s reckless when he unloads you know? I think Floyd with his defense can catch him on the way in.”
Source: James Allen @ thaboxingvoice.com

Virgil Hunter (Amir Khan Trainor)
“Floyd has a very easy time with people that are aggressive and attack him, taking the role of the matador. I think, looking at Floyd, if he sticks to that style of fight I think he’ll be victorious.”
Source: James Allen @ thaboxingvoice.com

Robert Garcia (Former IBF Super-Featherweight Champion , 2011 Trainer of the Year.)
“Manny has the style because he throws a lot of punches. He’s just going to throw hundreds of punches compared to Mayweather one or two here and there. I think Manny being aggressive, throwing a lot of punches, he could do it.”
Mario Mungia @ thaboxingvoice.com

Abel Sanchez (Gennady Golovkin Trainor)
I think Manny makes too many mistakes as he jumps in and Floyd’s a master, he’s the best in the world, he’s pound-for-pound the best in the world for a reason and he’s gonna make him pay for all those mistakes.
It’s still not appealing but I think it’s a fight that had to happen just because there’s so many people out there clamoring for it. I think five years ago it would have been an easier fight for Mayweather, I still think Mayweather wins now but it won’t be as easy as five years ago, but he still wins a decision.

Non-BOXING CELEBRITIES PREDICTION / PICKS

Chuck Liddell (Former UFC Light-Middleweight Champion)
“I like Mayweather. I just don't like he just do enough to win the rounds,” said “The Iceman.” “He's a great fighter to do that against other great fighters. But I like to see guys go after guys.”
“Well, [I’m betting on] Pacquiao,”
Source: ABS-CBNnews.com

Ronda Rousey (UFC Womens Bantamweight Champion, #1 P4P UFC Queen & 2008 Olympic Womens Judo Bronze Medalist)
"Pacquiao has been very, very nice to me so I'm going to root for him."
